Quick Tips: Freezing and Reheating Cooked Rice | One Pot Chef
Want to get dinner on the table sooner? Plan ahead! Did you know you can cook rice ahead of time, freeze it for later and reheat it in a matter of moments?
Reheated cooked rice never tastes the same as freshly cooked rice. Frozen then microwaved is even worse tasting… Unless you don't care and just want to fill your belly…
Once an old Asian lady taught me a different method: Wrap your freshly made rice in clingfilm while still hot and steaming. Try not to leave air pocket and also the key is to capture the steam. Then leave them to cool a bit, then put them in the freezer. When you want to eat, just pop it in the microwave. The steam you captured will moisten the rice. I tried and it worked like magic. I was single back then and was tired of making small portion of rice everyday just for myself. This way, I just had to make a big batch for the whole week, and everyday I just grab one portion and heat it up.
I'm not sure I need to freeze the rice for this, but I'd prefer to use my Zojirushi rice cooker to cook several portions of rice and use it up in the next 2-3 days. For example, one day I'll eat the fresh rice with some stir fry dish, and the next 1-2 days I'll use up the rest in a fried rice recipe. Wouldn't it be just as simple to store the rice in the fridge in this case? Please share advice and experiences.
Microwave?? Fuck that.
Thank you for showing us how to do that easy way of microwaving that rice to keep it soft.

Good one. I like this simple type of video.
I make bags of 1 cup serving. I freeze flat. Save space and easier to crumble after frozen.
To reheat I brake the rice in pieces while still in the bag. Put it in a bowl, sprinkle about 1 1/2 tbsp and reheat for 3 minutes.
It tastes like I just made it.

You shouldn't put plastic in a microwave.
What can you use instead of a damp paper towel?

Three months, it needs to be vacuum sealed or you'll get nasty freezer ice crystals in it!

Freeze for up to three months. Didn't know that Thanks. Egg fried rice is inexpensive, flexible, and very nutritious for the price.
It takes about 15 minutes for the rice cooker to cook the rice- only 15- and it won’t taste like pre frozen rice
Microwave? No thank you
